“tree-shaped” copolymers based on poly (ethylene glycol) and atactic or isotactic polylactides: Synthesis and characterization
Abstract
Abstract “Tree‐shaped” copolymers constituted by an m‐PEG trunk and poly(L‐lactide) or poly(D,L‐lactide) branches were obtained. The m‐PEG was functionalized at the terminal chain with two (G1) and four (G2) hydroxyl groups, then reacted with Al(CH3)3 to produce aluminum alkoxide species, active as initiators in the ROP of L‐ or D,L‐lactide. Copolymers were characterized by 1H and 13C NMR, GPC and DSC, and compared with analogous linear copolymers. Characterization of a low‐molecular‐weight G1 copolymer confirmed the architecture. GPC curves showed monomodal and narrow molecular weight distribution for all the samples, while the melting points of the copolymers seemed more correlated to the architecture than to the composition. magnified image

The final properties of copolymers are dictated not only by composition but also by macromolecular structure details such as molecular weight, dispersity, end-groups, microstructure and architecture.
“The final properties of the copolymers are dictated not only by their composition. Additionally, the details of the macromolecular structure, such as the molecular weight and dispersity, kind of end-groups [22], the polymer microstructure and architecture are important factors [23].”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
