Molecular Genetic Investigations of Personality: From Candidate Genes to Genome-wide Associations

Abstract

Temperament is traditionally defined as a dynamic feature of human mental activity such as its rates, rhythm and intensity. Psychologists differentiate temperament and character traits and consider temperament traits as heritable ones manifesting early in ontogenesis, while character traits represent values and goals formed during an individual’s development and socio-cultural learning (Van Gestel & Van Broeckhoven, 2003). The study of personality traits as dynamic characteristics of human behaviour originates from Hippocrates (V-IV cent. BC) and Galen (II cent. BC), who characterized the main types of the human behaviour. To date, multiple theories and concepts of personality exist reflecting hypothesized biological correlates including central nervous system functioning. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • Differences in allele and genotype frequencies between ethnic groups can change SNPs' effect.

“One of the possible limitations of using PGS for predicting ASB is the ethnic origin of the examined population, since differences in allele and genotype frequencies between ethnic groups can change SNPs’ effect (Kazantseva et al., 2016).”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
