Estimating of Structural Composition of Wood and Non-Wood Biomass Samples
Abstract
Ayhan Demirbaşa a SU Department of Chemical Engineering , Konya , Turkey The aim of this study is to estimate rough chemical formulae of lignin constituents of selected biomass samples (beech wood, spruce wood, walnut shell, hazelnut shell, corncob, wheat straw and sunflower shell). Isolation of original lignin from a lignocellulosic material is considerable trouble. Various fuel characteristics, such as moisture, ash, hemicelluloses, cellulose, lignin and extractive contents of different biomass species were determined on ash-free dry weight and extractive-free dry weight basis to find out the relationship, if any, between ash and extractive content with the higher heating value. The extractive content is an important parameter directly affecting the heating value. Extractives raised the higher heating values of the biomass samples.

Biomass possesses ineffective physical and chemical properties that limit its use as an energy source, such as low HHV, low bulk density, and high alkaline metal content in its ash.

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
