Measure of electron-electron correlation in atomic physics
Open accessAbstract
We propose a criterion to determine the numerical degree of global (non-operator-specific) correlation of a multiparticle quantum system and apply it to several situations, including electron-atom scattering and strong-field photoionization. We show that the degree of correlation tends to increase in the presence of the field.

According to the Schmidt decomposition (Schmidt theorem), any entangled (unfactorable) bipartite wave function can be presented as a sum of factorized terms.
“A natural extension of this definition is given by the Schmidt decomposition, or Schmidt theorem [14,15], according to which any entangled (unfactorable) bipartite wave function can be presented as a sum of factorized terms.”

The passage labelled Abstract presents an exact two-particle wavefunction as a sum of canonical terms, and the passage labelled L508 calls that superposition the Schmidt decomposition. But the paper discusses identical-particle terms—Slater determinants for fermions and orbital products for bosons—rather than stating the claim for any bipartite wavefunction. No page number is supplied for these passages. (LLM, conf=0.86)
Experimental — accuracy not yet measuredThe trace of the squared reduced density matrix ρ_r^2 determines purity of the reduced state and coincides with the inverse Schmidt entanglement parameter K^{-1}.
“As is known [14,15], the trace of the squared reduced density matrix ρ 2 r determines purity of the reduced state coinciding with the inverse value of the Schmidt entanglement parameter K -1 .”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
