Determination of mangiferin in rat eyes and pharmacokinetic study in plasma after oral administration of mangiferin-hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin inclusion
Abstract
Purpose To determine whether mangiferin can enter the eye, because the eye possesses the unique blood-ocular barrier. Methods Due to the low solubility of mangiferin, hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin was applied to improve the absorbance. A reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography assay for mangiferin in rat plasma and eye fluid was developed. The mobile phase consisted of methanol-0.6% glacial acetic acid (27:73, v/v) at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. Results Peak areas of mangiferin were linear over a concentration range of 0.40-20.00 microg/mL in blood samples and a range of 0.10-5.00 microg/mL in eye samples, respectively. Intra- and interassay precision and accuracy of mangiferin fell well within the predefined limits of acceptability ( Conclusions Mangiferin can pass the blood-ocular barrier and is suitable to be used as an antioxidant in eye diseases.

Inclusion of MGN in CDs cavity increases its solubility and bioavailability.
“Other studies (Huang, He, Lu, Ge, & Guo, 2011;Teng, Yu, Zhai, Li, & Liu, 2007;Zhang et al., 2010) also show that the inclusion of MGN on the CDs cavity increases its solubility and bioavailability.”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
