Weighted Sobolev inequalities under lower Ricci curvature bounds

Open access

Abstract

We obtain sharp weighted Poincaré and Sobolev inequalities over complete, noncompact Riemannian manifolds with polynomial volume growth and a quadratically decaying lower bound on Ricci. This improves and extends earlier work of Tian-Yau and Minerbe. We deduce a sharp existence result for bounded solutions of the Poisson equation on such manifolds, highlighting the well-known distinction between spaces of volume growth ≤ 2 and > 2 in terms of their Green’s functions. We also show that if the manifold is nonparabolic and carries a smooth function which behaves like the radius function of a cone, then these solutions almost decay at the rates expected from a cone.

  • If f ∈ C^{2,α}(M) satisfies |f| ≤ C r^{-μ} for some μ > 2, and if β ≤ 2 then ∫(e^f - 1)ω_0^m = 0, then there exists ᾱ ∈ (0,α] and u ∈ C^{4,ᾱ}(M) such that (ω_0 + i∂∂u)^m = e^f ω_0^m; if β ≤ 2, then ∫|∇u|^2 ω_0^m < ∞.

    “Let f ∈ C 2,α (M ) satisfy |f | ≤ Cr -μ for some μ > 2. If β ≤ 2, then assume in addition that (e f -1)ω m 0 = 0. Then there exists an ᾱ ∈ (0, α] and u ∈ C 4, ᾱ(M ) such that (ω 0 + i∂ ∂u) m = e f ω m 0 .If β ≤ 2, then |∇u| 2 ω m 0 < ∞.”

The Introduction (page unavailable) describes a complex Monge–Ampère analogue with the stated condition ∫(e^f−1)ω^m=0 when β≤2 and the regularity f∈C^{2,α} ⇒ u∈C^{4,ᾱ}. It makes that regularity conditional on bounded curvature and scalar-curvature derivatives, which the quoted claim omits. The paper also assumes SOB(β) throughout. (LLM, conf=0.85)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
