Journal of the Royal Society Interface
Open accessAbstract
J. R. Soc. Interface welcomes articles of high quality research at the interface of the physical and life sciences. It provides a high-quality forum to publish rapidly and interact across this boundary in two main ways: J. R. Soc. Interface publishes research applying chemistry, engineering, materials science, mathematics and physics to the biological and medical sciences.

PDMS microwedges exhibit controllable adhesion that can be switched on or off in a fraction of a second by applying a shear stress, making them especially suitable for climbing.
“While other dry adhesive materials produce larger adhesive stresses, PDMS microwedges are especially suitable for climbing because they exhibit controllable adhesion that can be effectively switched on or off in a fraction of a second by applying a shear stress.”

PDMS slanted microwedges adhere well to glass and can be repositioned many times without degradation.
“The adhesive chosen for this task consists of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) slanted microwedges (roughly 100 mm tall), which adhere well to glass and can be repositioned many times without degradation [4,5]”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
