Stochastic classical field model for polariton condensates

Open access

Abstract

We use the truncated Wigner approximation to derive stochastic classical field equations for the description of polariton condensates. Our equations are shown to reduce to the Boltzmann equation in the limit of low polariton density. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to analyze the momentum distribution and the first- and second-order coherences when the particle density is varied across the condensation threshold.

  • In incoherent pumping configurations, a higher noise level is found, with additional fluctuations from spontaneous events in the pumping process, given by ⟨ξ*ξ⟩ = 1/2 (γ_loss + γ_pump(1+|ψ|^2/n_S)) δ^(2)(r-r') δ(t-t').

    “Of course, a higher noise level is found in incoherent pumping configurations [80] where additional fluctuations are given by spontaneous events in the pumping process, ξ * (r ∥ , t ) ξ(r ′ ∥ , t ′ ) = 1 2 γ loss + γ pump 1 + |ψ| 2 /n S δ (2) (r ∥ -r ′ ∥ ) δ(t -t ′ ).”

Equation (33), in the passage labeled (28), includes both inscattering and loss in the stochastic noise correlation; the passage labeled (35) also discusses spontaneous inscattering. But the paper gives the noise in terms of scattering kernels and does not give the quoted local formula with γ_pump(1+|ψ|²/n_S), nor establish the stated comparison with coherent pumping. About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
