Adiabatic and isocurvature perturbations for multifield generalized Einstein models
Open accessAbstract
Low energy effective field theories motivated by string theory will likely contain several scalar moduli fields which will be relevant to early Universe cosmology. Some of these fields are expected to couple with nonstandard kinetic terms to other fields. In this paper, we study the splitting into adiabatic and isocurvature perturbations for a model with two scalar fields, one of which has a nonstandard kinetic term in the Einstein-frame action. Such actions can arise, e.g., in the pre-big-bang and ekpyrotic scenarios. The presence of a coupling through a nonstandard kinetic term induces a novel coupling between adiabatic and isocurvature perturbations which is nonvanishing when the potential for the matter fields is nonzero. This coupling is unsuppressed in the long wavelength limit and thus can lead to an important transfer of power from the entropy to the adiabatic mode on super-Hubble scales. We apply the formalism to the case of a previously found exact solution with an exponential potential and study the resulting mixing of adiabatic and isocurvature fluctuations in this example. We also discuss the possible relevance of the extra coupling in the perturbation equations for the process of generating an adiabatic component of the fluctuation spectrum from isocurvature perturbations without considering a later decay of the isocurvature component.

The paper derives general formulae for the running of the spectral indices for the adiabatic, isocurvature and correlation spectra in the case of two-field inflation.
“For such theories we derive the general formulae for the running of the spectral indices for the adiabatic, isocurvature and correlation spectra in the case of two-field inflation.”
From Spectral running and non-Gaussianity from slow-roll inflation in generalized two-field models (2007) · cites this paper as [28]
Section IV (p. 5) gives spectral indices for adiabatic and isocurvature perturbations in an exact two-field inflationary solution. It does not provide general formulae for the running of those indices or for a correlation spectrum. (LLM, conf=0.86)
Experimental — accuracy not yet measuredThe spectral indices are given in terms of slow-roll parameters as calculated in [28].
“The spectral indices are best written in terms of slow-roll parameters. They have been calculated in [28] and are given by”
From Spectral running and non-Gaussianity from slow-roll inflation in generalized two-field models (2007) · cites this paper as [28]
Section IV (pp. 5–6) calculates spectral indices for an exact inflationary solution and presents them as functions of p and tan θ. The passages do not give the indices in terms of slow-roll parameters, so that part of the attribution is unsupported by our copy. (LLM, conf=0.83)

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
