Inflationary models inducing non-Gaussian metric fluctuations
Open accessAbstract
We construct explicit models of multifield inflation in which the primordial metric fluctuations do not necessarily obey Gaussian statistics. These models are realizations of mechanisms in which non-Gaussianity is first generated by a light scalar field and then transferred into curvature fluctuations. The probability distribution functions of the metric perturbation at the end of inflation are computed. This provides a guideline for designing strategies to search for non-Gaussian signals in future CMB and large scale structure surveys.

Non-adiabatic perturbations produced during multi-field inflation can generate detectable non-Gaussianity in the density field after inflation, in models such as the curvaton scenario or reheating.
“Furthermore, non-adiabatic perturbations produced during multi-field inflation can certainly generate detectable non-Gaussianity in the density field after inflation, in models such as the curvaton scenario [10] (see also [11]) or reheating [12, 13, 14, 15].”
From Non-Gaussianities in two-field inflation (2006) · cites this paper as [12]
The introduction (p. 1) says multifield inflation can produce non-Gaussian isocurvature fluctuations that are transferred to curvature fluctuations, and discusses prospects for detecting primordial non-Gaussianity. But the paper’s models transfer those fluctuations during inflation; it does not establish the cited curvaton or reheating examples as mechanisms producing non-Gaussianity after inflation. About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
