High-T/sub c/ superconductor waveguides: theory and applications

Winters, J.H., Rose, C.·1991·IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques

Abstract

The authors study the expected properties of future high-T/sub c/ superconductor waveguides. These devices offer the potential of 100 GHz of bandwidth for transmission over long distances with low attenuation, with the advantage over optical systems of wider dynamic range (providing a virtually unlimited number of taps). The authors study the theoretical performance of superconductor waveguides, including attenuation, carrier frequency and bandwidth, maximum transmitted power, and dispersion. The authors study the possible application of a single waveguide as the transmission medium for a 60-GHz (data rate) local area network.>

Claims the paper makes

This paper’s full text isn’t openly available, so its claims and self-check weren’t run. The registry and citation checks still apply.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • The dissipation caused by the walls of the connecting transmission line is linked to the superconductor surface resistivity; at 13.99 GHz, it is negligible compared to the dielectric losses.

“The dissipation caused by the walls of the connecting transmission line is linked to the superconductor surface resistivity: R S 5 4p 2 Á 10 À28 x 2 Ohm (with x given in rad/ s).44 At 13.99 GHz, it is negligible when compared to the dielectric losses.”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
