On the determination of the position of extrema of sampled correlators
Open accessAbstract
The problem of determination of the position of the extremum of a continuous correlator function from its samples, if the spectrum of the correlator is not bandlimited, is discussed. Searching for the position of the extremum by fitting a parabola through three samples around that extremum leads to clustering of the estimates around values corresponding with the sampling moments.>

The estimated cross-correlation function can be approximated by a concave parabola in the neighborhood of its maximum because its mathematical expectation is band limited and presents a symmetric peak around the true time delay.
“Since its mathematical expectation is shown to be band limited and present a symmetric peak around the true time delay, the estimated crosscorrelation function can be approximated by a concave parabola in the neighborhood of its maximum [40, 63, 64].”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
