Abstract

This paper gives a simplified modelling of a Photovoltaic (PV) panel used in nanosatellite applications. For this reason, a single diode equivalent circuit model is proposed. Thereafter, a description of the triple-junction cell is presented. Then, the parameters extraction process of the used PV cell equivalent circuit is performed. In order to study the electrical performance of the equivalent circuit model, the nominal values provided by the manufacturer, namely: open circuit voltage, short-circuit current, the maximum power voltage and current are used to extract the unknown parameters ( Iph, Irs, Rs, nand Rsh) using mathematical equations. The novelty of this work is a modelling and a simulation of a Nanosatellite PV panel. In order to accurate the results, the extracted current-voltage (I-V) and power-voltage (P-V) characteristics are compared to the provided ones from Psim Software for various levels of irradiance and temperature corresponding to the solar spectrum outside the AM0 atmosphere. The proposed method presents high performance and simple behavior which makes it applicable for the nanosatellite panels.

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
