A Case for Data Commons: Toward Data Science as a Service
Open accessAbstract
Data commons collocate data, storage, and computing infrastructure with core services and commonly used tools and applications for managing, analyzing, and sharing data to create an interoperable resource for the research community. An architecture for data commons is described, as well as some lessons learned from operating several large-scale data commons.

The INPC has supported pioneering work developing and using research data commons.
“The INPC has also supported pioneering work developing and using research data commons, which collocate data, storage, and computing infrastructure with commonly used tools for analyzing and sharing data to create an interoperable resource for the research community [48].”

The Abstract (page unavailable) supports the sentence’s definition of data commons as collocating data, computing infrastructure, and tools for an interoperable research resource. The OSDC and OCC Data Commons section describes the OCC’s work, but our copy does not identify the INPC or say it supported that work (searched: INPC and the claim’s wording). (LLM, conf=0.85)

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
