Molecular Basis of Tubulin Transport Within the Cilium by IFT74 and IFT81
Open accessAbstract
Cilium Conundrum: The cilium has emerged as the antenna of eukaryotic cells, having numerous functions in sensory reception and developmental signaling. Several disorders, such as polycystic kidney disease, are the result of compromised cilia structure. Bhogaraju et al. (p. 1009 ) elucidate how the intraflagellar transport machinery recognizes tubulin, a ciliary cargo that is integral to cilium maintenance and formation and is constantly turned over at the cilium tip.

The IFT-B complex proteins IFT25 and IFT27 are involved in ciliary export of hedgehog signalling components via retrograde IFT.
“whereas the IFT-B complex proteins IFT25 and IFT27 are involved in ciliary export of hedgehog (HH) signalling components via retrograde IFT 59, 60, 62, 63.”
From Cellular signalling by primary cilia in development, organ function and disease (2019) · cites this paper as [62]
Our copy’s Abstract discusses IFT74 and IFT81 binding tubulin and their role in ciliogenesis, not IFT25 or IFT27. Searches for IFT25/IFT27 and hedgehog-component export via retrograde IFT found no passage addressing the claim; page numbers are unavailable in the copy. (LLM, conf=0.76)

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
