NEUTRINOLESS DOUBLE-BETA DECAY: A BRIEF REVIEW

Open access
BILENKY, S. M., GIUNTI, C.·2012·Modern Physics Letters A

Abstract

In this brief review we discuss the generation of Majorana neutrino masses through the seesaw mechanism, the theory of neutrinoless double-beta decay, the implications of neutrino oscillation data for the effective Majorana mass, taking into account the recent Daya Bay measurement of ϑ 13, and the interpretation of the results of neutrinoless double-beta decay experiments.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • For a periodic Majorana neutrino, there are two solutions of V=0 for any value of mν,lightest allowed by experiment, mν,lightest ≳ 0.1 eV.

“Figure 14 corresponds to Majorana neutrino, and there are two solutions of V = 0 for any value of m ν,lightest allowed by the experiment, m ν,lightest 0.1 eV [50,51].”

From Weak gravity conjecture, multiple point principle and the standard model landscape (2017) · cites this paper as [51]

Section 4 (p. 12) discusses effective Majorana mass as a function of the lightest neutrino mass, and the Conclusions (p. 19) note that cancellations can occur in the normal mass scheme. Searches for periodic Majorana neutrinos and two solutions of V = 0 found no passage addressing those claims or the stated mν,lightest ≳ 0.1 eV condition. (LLM, conf=0.76)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
