Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • At the end of the 20th century, women used to give birth with the help of midwives at home.

“At the end of the 20 th century, women used to give birth with the help of midwives at home. 1”

From Humanization of childbirth: meanings and perceptions of nurses (2017) · cites this paper as [1]

Section 1.2 places predominantly home births attended by midwives at the end of the 19th century, not the 20th. The same section says hospital birth became routine in Brazil after the 1960s. The cited copy therefore contradicts the claim’s timing. (LLM, conf=0.90)

  • After the Second World War, with technical and scientific progress and the evolution of medicine, pregnancy and birth became hospital events using technological and surgical means.

“After the Second World War and with technical and scientific progress and the evolution of medicine, pregnancy and birth became hospital events, in which technological and surgical means were used. 1”

From Humanization of childbirth: meanings and perceptions of nurses (2017) · cites this paper as [1]

Section 1.2 (page unavailable) says hospital birth came to predominate in Brazil after the Second World War, but also says the transition occurred earlier in several Western countries. Section 5.1 (page unavailable) links advances in anesthesia and surgical techniques to increased cesarean use. The copy supports a postwar shift in childbirth in Brazil, not the broader claim that pregnancy itself became a hospital event. (LLM, conf=0.82)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
