Patients with type 1 diabetes exhibit elevated levels of anti-heart autoantibodies.
“Sousa et al reported that patients with type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune condition, exhibit elevated levels of anti-heart autoantibodies”
From Autoimmune Myocarditis, Old Dogs and New Tricks. (2024) · cites this paper as [155]
In the study’s main text (page not provided), cardiac autoantibodies were detected in 146 of 892 participants with type 1 diabetes (16%). This supports their presence in some patients, but the paper reports antibody positivity, not elevated antibody levels relative to a comparison group. (LLM, conf=0.85)
Experimental — accuracy not yet measuredIn patients with type 1 diabetes, anti-heart autoantibody levels correlate with cardiac dysfunction and increased cardiovascular disease risk.
“which correlate with cardiac dysfunction and increased cardiovascular disease risk.”
From Autoimmune Myocarditis, Old Dogs and New Tricks. (2024) · cites this paper as [155]
In the main text (page unavailable), the study associates positivity for ≥2 cardiac autoantibodies with larger left ventricular dimensions and lower ejection fraction in patients with type 1 diabetes; it does not establish a correlation across antibody levels. Its limitations state that too few heart-failure events occurred to assess risk, and the conclusion says future risk requires longer follow-up. The increased cardiovascular disease risk attributed to this study is therefore not supported. (LLM, conf=0.90)

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
