The Hall Technique for Managing Carious Primary Molars
Abstract
UNLABELLED: The Hall Technique, a method of managing carious primary molars effectively with preformed metal crowns, without the use of local anaesthesia, caries removal or tooth preparation of any kind, is described. The technique is illustrated with a case report. The evidence underpinning the technique is discussed, along with indications and contra-indications for its use, and details of where clinicians can obtain further information on the technique if they are considering using it. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Research evidence has indicated that the Hall Technique is effective in managing dental caries in primary molar teeth when used by General Dental Practitioners, and is preferred by them, their child patients and the children's parents to conventional restorative methods for these teeth.

The Hall technique seals cavities, obstructing the nutrient supply to deleterious bacteria responsible for dental caries, thereby inhibiting caries progression and preventing further deterioration of the affected tooth.
“This technique efficiently seals cavities, thereby obstructing the nutrient supply to deleterious bacteria responsible for dental caries. Consequently, it inhibits caries progression and prevents further deterioration of the affected tooth [48].”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
