Abstract

A national survey of community and junior colleges gathered information about the availability of sign language classes and interpreter training. Of the 790 institutions responding, 373 (47%) offer sign language classes. More than 30,000 students are enrolled in these sign classes each year. Interpreter training is offered at 54 colleges, with a total enrollment of more than 2,100 students.
