Abstract

Epipremnum Schott, commonly known as pothos, is a member of the family Araceae and is indigenous to Southeast Asia and the Solomon Islands (Henny and Chen 2003). The genus has ∼10 known species (Bailey and Bailey 1976). Still, only Epipremnum aureum and Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Aureum’ (Boyce 1998) have been produced commercially. Pothos is one of the most popular foliage plants worldwide (Chen 2024). It usually does not flower in nature (Chen et al. 2002) because transcripts for the biosynthesis of gibberellic acid (GA), EaGA3ox1, and the GA-responsive floral meristem gene, EaLFY, are inactive in pothos (Hung et al. 2016). As a result, breeding through hybridization has not been reported. However, we developed a method for inducing pothos flowering by foliar spray of GA3 (Hung et al. 2016). Following GA3 treatment, blooms were induced, and self-pollination of ‘Marble Queen’ was achieved. ‘UF-Ea-0310’ was selected from self-pollinated seedling populations of ‘Marble Queen’. Regeneration of ‘UF-Ea-0310’ via direct somatic embryogenesis resulted in the isolation of a complete green-leaved cultivar: UF-Ea-0314.

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
