Abstract

For Li-ion batteries based energy storage devices, the residual runtime is one of the most important indexes for the energy management and optimization in smart grid and electric vehicle applications. In this present study, the residual runtime of batteries is indicated by the residual available energy and the index of State of Energy (SOE) instead of the traditional State of Charge (SOC). To improve the accuracy of SOE estimation, a novel practical Li-ion battery model is built in this work against the dynamic load and the non-linear battery effects. To acquire advantages of both models, a Butler-Volmer equation-based electrochemical model is merged with an electrical model based on principles of electrochemistry from the discharge curve of the battery. Commercial Li-ion batteries are tested at single-cell level under dynamic loads for model validation. Simulation results verify the high precision and robustness of the proposed battery model.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • Electrochemical models are derived from first principles, such as the Nernst equation and Butler-Volmer equation.

“These parameterized models are derived from first principles, for example the Nernst equation [32] and Butler-Volmer equation [33] which characterize the electrochemical reactions that go on within the battery.”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
