Abstract

Leveraging Multi-modal Large Language Models (MLLMs) to create embodied agents offers a promising avenue for tackling real-world tasks. While language-centric embodied agents have garnered substantial attention, MLLM-based embodied agents remain underexplored due to the lack of comprehensive evaluation frameworks. To bridge this gap, we introduce EmbodiedBench, an extensive benchmark designed to evaluate vision-driven embodied agents. EmbodiedBench features: (1) a diverse set of 1,128 testing tasks across four environments, ranging from high-level semantic tasks (e.g., household) to low-level tasks involving atomic actions (e.g., navigation and manipulation); and (2) six meticulously curated subsets evaluating essential agent capabilities like commonsense reasoning, complex instruction understanding, spatial awareness, visual perception, and long-term planning. Through extensive experiments, we evaluated 24 leading proprietary and open-source MLLMs within EmbodiedBench. Our findings reveal that: MLLMs excel at high-level tasks but struggle with low-level manipulation, with the best model, GPT-4o, scoring only 28.9\% on average. EmbodiedBench provides a multifaceted standardized evaluation platform that not only highlights existing challenges but also offers valuable insights to advance MLLM-based embodied agents. Our code and dataset are available at https://embodiedbench.github.io.

  • Cosmos-Predict1 and Cosmos-Transfer1 have facilitated the development of open evaluation benchmarks for general-purpose world generation and specialized domains such as physics and Embodied AI.

“It has facilitated the development of open evaluation benchmarks for both general-purpose world generation (Duan et al., 2025; Zhou et al., 2025; Zhao et al., 2025) and specialized domains such as physics (Bansal et al., 2024; Motamed et al., 2025; Guo et al., 2025; Bansal et al., 2025; Bordes et al., 2025) and Embodied AI (Yang et al., 2025; Liao et al., 2025; Yue et al., 2025).”

From World Simulation with Video Foundation Models for Physical AI (2025) · cites this paper as Yang et al., 2025

The Abstract (p. 1) identifies EmbodiedBench as an evaluation benchmark for vision-driven embodied agents and says its code and dataset are available. That supports the Embodied AI benchmark example attributed to Yang et al., but the paper does not say Cosmos-Predict1 or Cosmos-Transfer1 facilitated its development. The general-purpose and physics examples are attributed to other citations in the sentence. (LLM, conf=0.86)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
