Abstract

  • The question of leaving Islam remains unsettled in Malaysia as authorities have yet to provide a precise and uniform response.

“Nonetheless, research by Samudin and Mohd Chabidi (2023) demonstrates that the question of leaving Islam remains unsettled as the authorities have yet to provide a precise and uniform response.”

From APOSTASY PUNISHMENT IN ISLAMIC SCHOLARLY DISCOURSE: PERSPECTIVES AND IMPLICATIONS IN THE MALAYSIAN CONTEXT (2025) · cites this paper as Samudin and Mohd Chabidi (2023)

The Abstract (page unavailable) describes public confusion over whether leaving Islam is a crime or a religious freedom, as well as legal and administrative problems. It does not say that authorities have failed to give a precise, uniform response; that explanation is unsupported by our copy. (LLM, conf=0.78)

Experimental — accuracy not yet measured
  • In Malaysia, the rate of apostasy within the Muslim community is reportedly increasing year after year.

“In Malaysia, the rate of apostasy within the Muslim community is reportedly increasing year after year.”

From APOSTASY PUNISHMENT IN ISLAMIC SCHOLARLY DISCOURSE: PERSPECTIVES AND IMPLICATIONS IN THE MALAYSIAN CONTEXT (2025) · cites this paper as Samudin and Mohd Chabidi (2023)

The Abstract discusses apostasy-related legal issues in Malaysia but gives no year-by-year figures or statement that apostasy is increasing. Searches for “meningkat setiap tahun” and an English paraphrase found only references, including a single 2017 figure, not evidence of an annual trend. (LLM, conf=0.72)

Experimental — accuracy not yet measured
  • The reported increase in apostasy in Malaysia is attributed to inadequate religious education, socioeconomic challenges and familial or marital conflicts.

“Their findings attribute this trend to inadequate religious education, socioeconomic challenges and familial or marital conflicts.”

From APOSTASY PUNISHMENT IN ISLAMIC SCHOLARLY DISCOURSE: PERSPECTIVES AND IMPLICATIONS IN THE MALAYSIAN CONTEXT (2025) · cites this paper as Samudin and Mohd Chabidi (2023)

The indexed copy’s Abstract (no page number) describes a focus on legal and administrative issues in apostasy cases, not an increase attributed to religious education, socioeconomic conditions, or family and marital conflicts. Searches for those factors in English and Malay returned no substantive passage; the available copy appears to omit the article body, where a decisive discussion might appear. (LLM, conf=0.72)

Experimental — accuracy not yet measured
  • There is an absence of a consistent legal framework and uneven application of apostasy-related laws among Malaysian states.

“Significantly, both studies emphasise the absence of a consistent legal framework and the uneven application of apostasy-related laws among Malaysian states.”

From APOSTASY PUNISHMENT IN ISLAMIC SCHOLARLY DISCOURSE: PERSPECTIVES AND IMPLICATIONS IN THE MALAYSIAN CONTEXT (2025) · cites this paper as Samudin and Mohd Chabidi (2023)

The Abstract discusses legal problems and jurisdictional issues in apostasy cases, while the References list statutes from several Malaysian states. Neither passage says that the legal framework is inconsistent or that apostasy-related laws are applied unevenly among states. Searches for those claims in English and Malay found no supporting passage in our copy. (LLM, conf=0.70)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
