Distal Xq28 microdeletions: Clarification of the spectrum of contiguous gene deletions involving ABCD1, BCAP31, and SLC6A8 with a new case and review of the literature
Abstract
The c ontiguous ABCD1/DXS1375E (BCAP31) d eletion s yndrome (CADDS) is a rare X‐linked contiguous gene deletion syndrome with a severe clinical phenotype that includes marked delays, significant growth failure, liver dysfunction, and early death. The X‐linked creatine transporter deficiency is a considerably more common and a cause of X‐linked intellectual disability; however, multi‐exon deletions of the creatine transporter are rare. We report the fifth case of CADDS, who also has a deletion of the X‐linked creatine transporter. We also review reported cases of deletions in this region in order to clarify the clinical spectrum of contiguous microdeletions in this region. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

In CADDS, severe developmental delay, dystonia, deafness, and white matter abnormalities are commonly reported.
“As in DDCH, severe developmental delay, dystonia, deafness, and white matter abnormalities are commonly reported, while the presence of raised VLCFA is like that seen in isolated ABCD1 defects.”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
