Regardless of the environments studied, the oxide scales formed after breakaway have been composed of an outward-growing almost pure Fe oxide and an inward-growing oxide with a more complex microstructure and varying composition.
“Regardless of the environments studied, the oxide scales have been composed of an outward-growing almost pure Fe oxide, and an inward-growing oxide with a more complex microstructure and varying composition.”
From The influence of Nickel on the corrosion protection of FeCrNi alloys after breakaway corrosion at 600 °C (2024) · cites this paper as [19]
Alloys with low Cr content (Fe2.25Cr, Fe5Cr3Al) and the 34 wt% Ni alloy (Fe18Cr34Ni) do not form a primary corrosion protection under the studied conditions, but an Fe-rich oxide scale similar to the oxide scale formed in the presence of K2CO3 (secondary regime).
“Note that the alloys with low Cr content (Fe2.25Cr[20], Fe5Cr3Al) and the 34 wt% Ni alloy (Fe18Cr34Ni) do not form a primary corrosion protection under the studied conditions, but an Fe-rich oxide scale, similar to the oxide scale formed in the presence of K 2 CO 3 (in the secondary corrosion regime).”
Most samples formed a slow-growing Cr/Al-rich oxide scale in the mild exposure environment (O2 + N2), with the exceptions being alloys with low Cr content (Fe2.25Cr, Fe5Cr3Al) and the alloy with 34 wt% Ni (Fe18Cr34Ni).
“This is in good agreement with the results from this study, showing that most of the samples formed a slow-growing Cr/Al-rich oxide scale in the mild exposure environment (O 2 + N 2 ) with the exception being the alloys with low Cr content (Fe2.25Cr[20], Fe5Cr3Al) and the alloy with 34 wt% Ni (Fe18Cr34Ni) (see Fig. 2 and 4).”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
