Abstract

In this study, activated carbon was developed from Ficus carica bast (FCBAC). The experiments were carried out to explore methylene blue (MB) uptake by FCBAC. The influence of various experimental factors such as contact time, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dosage, temperature and pH of dye solution was investigated. The adsorption equilibrium was represented with Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models. Langmuir and Tempkin equations were found to have the correlation coefficient value in good agreement. Adsorption of MB onto FCBAC followed pseudo second order kinetics. The calculated values of ΔH°, ΔS° and ΔG° were found to be 21.55 kJ/mol, 76.24 J/mol K and −1.55 kJ/mol, respectably. Adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic in nature.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • The negative ΔS values for both MB and CR were ascribed to the adsorbates losing randomness in the solid-solute interface during the adsorption process.

“The negative value in both MB and CR for ΔS was ascribed to the fact that the adsorbates lose randomness in the solid-solute interface during the adsorption process47,58,79–81.”

From The removal of anionic and cationic dyes from an aqueous solution using biomass-based activated carbon (2021) · cites this paper as [79]

Section 3.5, “Adsorption thermodynamics,” reports a positive ΔS° of 76.24 J/mol K for MB adsorption, contrary to the claimed negative value. The paper studies MB adsorption and provides no result for CR or an explanation involving loss of randomness at the interface. (LLM, conf=0.90)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
