Viral Vectors for Studying Brain Mechanisms that Control Energy Homeostasis

Open access

Abstract

Viral vectors have been shown to be potent and versatile tools for genome editing. In the present Minireview, we focus on lentiviruses and adeno-associated viruses as vectors and their use in the study of the hypothalamic circuits involved in the regulation of energy homeostasis.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • The viral-Cre approach used here suffers from the inherent weakness that the SynI promoter-driven Cre will be expressed in all infected neurons, which might affect the role of specific neuronal populations.

“We acknowledge that the viral-Cre approach used here suffers from the inherent weakness that the SynI promoter-driven Cre will be expressed in all infected neurons, which might might the role of specific neuronal populations51.”

From IDOL regulates systemic energy balance through control of neuronal VLDLR expression (2019) · cites this paper as [51]

The supplied passage has no section or page label and contains only reference links, not discussion of the viral-Cre approach. Searches for SynI, promoter-driven Cre expression, and neuronal specificity found no substantive passage in our copy that addresses the claim. (LLM, conf=0.76)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
