Abstract

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) has shown its promising performance for use as an electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). However, it has commonly suffered from limited edge active sites and stagnant conductivity in this regard. Therefore in the present work, with integrating graphene aerogel (GA) supporting and Al ions doping, we report for the first time one-pot hydrothermal synthesis of Al-doped MoS 2 @GA aerogel electrocatalysts with 3D porous network architecture. Vertical MoS 2 ultrathin nanosheets with defect-rich structure are grown on graphene nanosheets at the optimum weight ratio of 5 wt% GA, leading to the enhancement of HER activity. Simultaneously Al doping of 0.77 at% further optimizes the number of exposed active sites and conductivity. The overpotential at a current of 10 mA·cm −2 was successfully reduced to 212 mV with a Tafel slope value down to 41 mV/dec, benefiting from synergistically structural and electronic modulating of MoS 2 . The study thus sheds light on designing and developing high-performance 3D network electrocatalysts for HER reaction.

  • Graphene aerogels are employed to improve the electronic conductivity as well as stability of HER electrocatalysts in long-term operation.

“Its aerogel structure has advantages of desirable active sites, excellent conductivity, and structural flexibility, and thus, graphene aerogels are employed to improve the electronic conductivity as well as stability of HER electrocatalysts in the long-term operation [21,22].”

From Study of multi-faceted CoS2 introduced graphene aerogel hybrids via chemical approach for an effective electrocatalytic water splitting (2021) · cites this paper as [21]

The Electrochemical HER activities section says adding graphene aerogel enhanced the composite’s conductivity. The Cycling stability and durability section reports that the Al-doped MoS₂@graphene aerogel catalyst maintained its current density over 10 hours, but it does not show that graphene aerogel itself improved long-term stability. About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
