Enriched environment and physical activity reverse astrogliodegeneration in the hippocampus of AD transgenic mice
Open accessAbstract
Astrocytes, being the principal cellular component of homoeostatic system of the central nervous system, are involved in numerous physiological functions, including maintenance of synaptic connectivity, plasticity and survival, and facilitating synaptogenesis. In many neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD), astrocytes undergo complex morphological and functional modifications, manifested by both degenerative and reactive changes. 1 , 2

Claims other papers make about this one
Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?
GFAP expression is modulated by physiological stimuli such as physical activity, enriched environments, and glucocorticoids, and fluctuates with circadian rhythms in the suprachiasmatic nucleus.
“Expression of GFAP is also modulated by physiological stimuli such as physical activity19, exposure to enriched environments19, and glucocorticoids20, and it fluctuates with circadian rhythms in the suprachiasmatic nucleus21.”
From Reactive astrocyte nomenclature, definitions, and future directions (2021) · cites this paper as [19]
The paper reports that voluntary running and enriched environments increased the surface area and volume of GFAP-positive astrocyte profiles in the hippocampus of mice (main text; page not provided). It does not establish that GFAP expression itself changed. The glucocorticoid and circadian-rhythm clauses are attached to other citations, not this source. (LLM, conf=0.84)

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
