Investigating antecedents of adopting wearable technology products among Gen Z

Yu, Ui-Jeen·2026·International Journal of Fashion Design, Technology and Education

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that influence consumers’ adoption of wearable devices, based on Zeithaml’s model (1988) related to consumer perceptions of price, quality, and value. A total of 177 college students in the United States particiated in a web-based survey, with a smartwatch used as the stimulus. Results indicate perceived quality had a positive effect on perceived value and indirect effects on both attitude toward product and purchase intention. Perceived value positively influenced both attitude toward product and purchase intention. This study contributes to the application of Zeithaml’s model to wearable technology products and offers managerial implications, emphasizing the importance of creating values in developing marketing strategies.

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
