The quantum open system as a model of the heat engine
Open accessAbstract
The quantum open system weakly coupled to thermal reservoirs at different temperatures and under the influence of slowly varying external conditions is studied. The famous Carnot inequality for the efficiency of any heat engine is obtained.

The KMS condition implies a strong asymmetry of the spectral density G(ω) for low T, where T is measured relative to the presence of kT energy scales in the bath.
“The KMS condition implies a strong asymmetry of the spectral density G ( ω ) for low T , where T is measured relative to the presence of kT energy scales in the bath, i.e., relative to the range where G ( ω ) is non-vanishing.”

Markovian dynamics requires either the singular coupling limit (high temperature) or the weak coupling limit (weak system-bath interaction).

The singular coupling limit physically makes sense only in the high-temperature limit.
“It is based on a rescaling of the bath and system-bath Hamiltonians, which physically makes sense in the hightemperature limit only.”

As a consequence of the KMS condition (15) and condition (18), for a generic initial state the system tends to its thermal equilibrium (Gibbs) state at the temperature of the heat bath.

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
