Abstract

To protect the sensitive data captured in the wireless media sensor networks (WMSNs), this paper propounds a novel data encryption scheme by employing a new chaotic system and the semi-tensor product compressive sensing model driven by a linear congruence generator. In this scheme, the coefficients yielded by sparsely decomposing the plaintext image onto a wavelet packet basis are firstly compressed using a key-controlled measurement matrix. To minimize the threat of various attacks, the compressed image is then subjected to bidirectional diffusion manipulation to conceal its statistical properties under the control of chaotic sequences. Additionally, it is worth explaining that a lightweight 4D-chaotic system with only one nonlinear term is designed to accommodate the resource-constrained situation in WMSNs. Finally, theoretical analysis and investigations affirm its significant enhancement in visual security, compressibility, and encryption efficiency. Moreover, the proposed scheme is significantly superior to existing relevant encryption ones.

  • Chaos-based image encryption algorithms are efficient, making them ideal for real-time applications and suitable for environments with constrained computational resources.

“Additionally, chaos-based image encryption algorithms are known for their efficiency, making them ideal for real-time applications and suitable for environments with constrained computational resources17,18.”

From A chaos-based augmented image encryption scheme for satellite images using Fredkin logic (2025) · cites this paper as [17]

Section 6.7 reports that the proposed chaos-based scheme encrypts images faster than the alternatives tested, while Section 2 describes its lightweight design for resource-limited sensor networks. The paper does not establish that chaos-based image encryption algorithms generally are ideal for real-time use, and its timing tests used a laptop rather than a resource-constrained sensor node. About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
