Study Zitterbewegung effect in a quasi one-dimensional relativistic quantum plasma by Dirac-Heisenberg-Wigner formalization

Abstract

The trembling motion of moving electrons, known as Zitterbewegung effect, in quasi-one-dimensional relativistic quantum plasma is theoretically investigated by using Dirac equation together with the Wigner distribution function. The relativistic Wigner matrix is used to calculate the mean values of the position and velocity operators for a Dirac gas of electrons. It is found that the oscillatory behavior of measurable quantities could be associated with the Zitterbewegung effect which manifests itself as a damping interference pattern stemming from mixing the positive and negative dispersion modes of Dirac particles.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • Zitterbewegung is a signature of the interference of particle and antiparticle states.

“that is a signature of the interference of particle and antiparticle states”

From Photonic cellular automaton simulation of relativistic quantum fields: Observation of <i>Zitterbewegung</i> (2024) · cites this paper as [78]

The paper’s concluding discussion (page unavailable) describes Zitterbewegung as an interference pattern arising from mixing positive and negative dispersion branches, and its discussion of the oscillations attributes them to mixed components. It does not identify those branches as particle and antiparticle states, so that specific characterization is not established by our copy. (LLM, conf=0.78)

  • Zitterbewegung is the oscillation of the expected value of the position operator X.

“namely the oscillation of the expected value of the position operator X [32-34, 77-91].”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
