Oscillatory effects and the magnetic susceptibility of carriers in inversion layers

Bychkov, Yu A, Rashba, E I·1984·Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics

Abstract

Oscillatory effects in a strong magnetic field B and magnetic susceptibility are investigated, as applied to 2D systems, in which the twofold spin degeneracy is lifted by the spin-orbit-interaction Hamiltonian H SO = alpha ( sigma *k). nu . The term H SO is shown to change greatly the usual patterns of B -1 -periodic oscillations; some oscillations are strongly suppressed due to the diminishing of the gaps between adjacent levels, and new oscillations appear due to intersections of levels.

Claims the paper makes

This paper’s full text isn’t openly available, so its claims and self-check weren’t run. The registry and citation checks still apply.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • In a metallic heterostructure, symmetry breaking at the interface can lead to localized states that experience an effective electric field normal to the interface in the Rashba-Bychkov model.

“In a metallic heterostructure, breaking at the interface can also lead to localized states that experience an effective electric field, , normal to the interface in the Rashba-Bychkov model130.”
  • In the thin film limit, the three-dimensional topological insulator model reduces exactly to the two-dimensional topological insulator model by BHZ.

“Interestingly, in the thin film limit, the 3D TI model reduces exactly to the 2D TI model by BHZ[32-34].”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
