Zitterbewegung in quantum mechanics of Proca particles
Open accessAbstract
Zitterbewegung of a massive Proca (spin-1) boson is analyzed. The equations of motion of a massive Proca particle in the Sakata-Taketani representation are equivalent to the corresponding equations for the Dirac particle. However, Zitterbewegung does not appear in the Foldy-Wouthuysen representation. Zitterbewegung is not observable because the quantum-mechanical counterparts of the classical position and velocity are the position and velocity operators in the Foldy-Wouthuysen representation and their transforms to other representations.

Equations of motion in the GFV representation for particles with arbitrary spin coincide with the corresponding equations for scalar particles and with Eqs. (27) and (28).
“The same derivations as in Ref. [4] show that equations of motions in this representation coincide with the corresponding equations [4] for scalar particles and with Eqs. (27) and (28).”

Section 3 (pp. 3–4) states that the equations of motion for a free spin-1 Proca particle in the Sakata–Taketani representation are equivalent to those for scalar particles; the Discussion and summary (p. 4) reiterates this comparison. The paper does not establish the claim for arbitrary-spin particles in a GFV representation, and its corresponding equation is (17), not (27) or (28). (LLM, conf=0.86)

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
