SEGREGATION ANALYSES AND GENE-CENTROMERE DISTANCES IN ZEBRAFISH
Abstract
The gol-1, gol-2, alb-1 and spa-1 mutations affect pigment pattern in the zebrafish. We show here that these loci are unlinked to each other. In addition, gene-centromere distances were determined for these loci by analysis of halftetrads obtained by the inhibition of the second meiotic division. The fractions of tetratype (second-division segregation) tetrads range from 0.24 (spa-1) to 0.89 (gol-1). The observation of >0.67 second-division segregation indicates that the zebrafish has high chiasma interference.

The albino (albb4/b4) mutant is characterised by a general deficiency in melanin production due to a mutation in the slc45a2 gene.
“The albino (albb4/b4) mutant is characterised by a general deficiency in the production of melanin due to a mutation in the slc45a2 gene18.”
From A crystal-clear zebrafish for in vivo imaging (2016) · cites this paper as [18]
The Results section identifies alb-1 as a zebrafish pigment-pattern mutation and says it affects the appearance of other pigment mutants. Our copy does not identify the alb b4 allele, establish a general deficiency in melanin production, or link the mutation to slc45a2 (searched: alb-1(b4), melanin, slc45a2). (LLM, conf=0.85)
Experimental — accuracy not yet measuredThe combinatorial crystal mutant (albb4/b4;nacrew2/w2;roya9/a9) was generated by sequentially crossbreeding three single mutant strains: nacrew2/w2, roya9/a9 and albb4/b4.
“The combinatorial crystal mutant (albb4/b4;nacrew2/w2;roya9/a9) was generated by sequentially crossbreeding three different single mutant strains, namely nacrew2/w2 (ref. 9), roya9/a9 (ref. 4) and albb4/b4 (ref. 18) mutants.”
From A crystal-clear zebrafish for in vivo imaging (2016) · cites this paper as [18]
The Results describe alb-1 as a recessive zebrafish pigment-pattern mutant, supporting the citation’s identification of an alb mutant strain. Our copy does not establish the specific b4/b4 allele or describe the sequential crosses used to generate the combinatorial crystal mutant. (LLM, conf=0.78)

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
