The energy scattered by each fibril when unpolarised light falls on it is inversely proportional to the third or fourth power of the wavelength of the incoming light.
“We should point out that the energy scattered by each fibril when unpolarised light falls on it is inversely proportional to the third (Maurice, 1962) or fourth (Van den Berg and Tan, 1994) power of the wavelength of the incoming light.”

Models by Maurice (1962) and Hart and Farrell (1969) proposed that collagen fibrils in the corneal stroma are connected to six adjacent fibrils by proteoglycans at regular axial intervals, and that the defined lengths of the proteoglycans force the fibrils onto a perfect hexagonal lattice, guaranteeing corneal transparency.
“The models they proposed were based essentially on the collagen fibrils in the corneal stroma being connected to six adjacent fibrils by proteoglycans at regular axial intervals. The defined lengths of the proteoglycans would force the fibrils on a perfect hexagonal lattice, which would guarantee corneal transparency.”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
