Abstract

We present results from MiniMax (Fermilab T-864), a small test/experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron designed to search for the production of a disoriented chiral condensate (DCC) in p-$\overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.8$ TeV in the forward direction, $\ensuremath{\sim}3.4<\ensuremath{\eta}<\ensuremath{\sim}4.2.$ Data, consisting of $1.3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ events, are analyzed using the robust observables developed in an earlier paper. The results are consistent with generic, binomial-distribution partition of pions into charged and neutral species. Limits on DCC production in various models are presented.

  • Evidence for the novel initial state at RHIC emerges from the suppression or quenching of jets and has been observed in comparing d+Au and Au+Au collisions.

“The evidence for this novel initial state at RHIC emerges from the suppression or quenching of jets and has been observed in comparing d + Au and Au + Au collisions[22, 150].”

From Phase Transitions in the Early and Present Universe (2006) · cites this paper as [150]

The paper’s Introduction (p. 1) identifies its subject as a search for disoriented chiral condensate in proton–antiproton collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron. Searches for RHIC, jet suppression or quenching, and d+Au versus Au+Au comparisons found no passage addressing the attributed claim; the Conclusions (p. 9) instead report the DCC-search results. (LLM, conf=0.78)

  • The ground state of high energy nuclei prior to the collision is akin to a non-perturbative Bose-Einstein condensate of gluons, a color glass condensate.

“Current theoretical understanding[150] suggests that the ground state of high energy nuclei prior to the collision is akin to a non-perturbative Bose-Einstein condensate of gluons, a color glass condensate .”

From Phase Transitions in the Early and Present Universe (2006) · cites this paper as [150]

The Introduction (p. 1) describes a search for disoriented chiral condensates, and the paper’s opening summary (p. 1) identifies the experiment as a study of pion production in proton–antiproton collisions. Searches for color glass condensate and a Bose–Einstein-like ground state of gluons found no passage addressing the claim. (LLM, conf=0.76)

Experimental — accuracy not yet measured

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
