A new proposal to provide estimation of QoS and QoE over WiMAX networks: An approach based on computational intelligence and discrete-event simulation
Abstract
This paper presents an estimation of Quality of Experience (QoE) metrics based on Quality of Service (QoS) metrics in WiMAX networks. Applications used to generate such estimations were EvalVid and Network Simulator 2 (NS-2). The QoE was estimated by employing a Multilayer Artificial Neural Network by means of the WEKA tool. The results show a very efficient estimation of metrics of QoE parameters with respect to QoS parameters.

Different QoE metrics can lead to very different model parameters.
“It is observed that different QoE metrics can lead to very different model parameters.”

With appropriate configuration, all the models are able to predict QoE with very high accuracy.
“Nevertheless, with appropriate configuration all the models are able to predict the QoE with very high accuracy.”

Some works find it sufficient to correlate QoE to a single network QoS parameter, while others argue that multiple QoS parameters impact QoE and need to be considered in tandem.
“While some find it sufficient to correlate the QoE to a single network QoS parameter [145, 240, 383, 408], e.g.delay or throughput, others argue that multiple QoS parameters impact the QoE and need to be considered in tandem as features in a QoE/QoS correlation model [89,102,114,235,287,328,432].”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
