Microsatellite development and survey of genetic variation in skipjack tuna Katsuwonus pelamis
Abstract
A survey of five newly developed microsatellite DNA markers in skipjack tuna Katsuwonus pelamis revealed high levels of polymorphism in two samples off the west coast of India (Minicoy Island and Kochi coast) and one sample off the Japan coast. Although significant differentiation (P < 0·01) in the number of specific alleles was observed between Minicoy and Kochi samples, the F‐statistics values among the samples were very low (average = 0·0014) and not significant (P = 0·284).

Using nuclear microsatellite markers, there was no differentiation between skipjack tuna samples from the east coast of India and the coast of Japan.
“However, when using nuclear microsatellite markers, there was no differentiation between samples from the two aforementioned regions (Menezes et al., 2008).”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
