Abstract

These maps show publicly available in-person lifestyle change program (LCP) classes, as of March 1, 2017, by diabetes incidence (Map A) and socioeconomic status (Map B) at the county level.Because higher diabetes incidence is correlated with lower socioeconomic status, this information may be useful in targeting type 2 diabetes prevention efforts.Organizations wanting to expand the availability of the LCP may use these maps to determine counties most in need of new programs. The opinions expressed by authors contributing to this journal do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Public Health Service, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or the authors' affiliated institutions.www.cdc.gov/pcd/issues/2018/18_0063.htm• Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 1

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • MDPP site shortages in states with the largest racial/ethnic minority populations continue patterns observed with NDPP availability.

“continuing patterns observed with NDPP availability.11”

    From
Current Perspectives on the Impact of the National Diabetes Prevention Program: Building on Successes and Overcoming Challenges
(2020) · cites this paper as [11]

The Main Findings report fewer National DPP class locations in counties with higher diabetes incidence or greater socioeconomic disadvantage. The paper does not analyze availability by state racial or ethnic minority population, so it does not establish that the specific MDPP site-shortage pattern described here was previously observed for the National DPP. About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
