Abstract

Fucoxanthin is the major abundant xanthophyll in macro- and micro-algae as a component of photosynthetic light-harvesting complexes for photosynthesis and photoprotection. Nowadays, widespread application of fucoxanthin in food industry, pharmaceutical, and medical purposes are increasing. The current issue attracts the attention of researchers for producing of carotenoid from its natural resources, especially algae. Againts macroalgae, microalgae have rapid growth with the same source of food. In addition, they can grow from variety of situations and environmental conditions to produce a specific biochemical product. Microalgae, e.g. Tisochrysis lutea (T. lutea), can be cultivated under controlled conditions, low cost, and higher concentration of fucoxanthin. This review presents some of nutraceutical effects of fucoxanthin for human health and then, in particular, recent biotechnological developments in bioprocessing of this valuable product including, cultivation, harvesting, extraction, and purification, from T. lutea.

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
