Lipid Composition of a Green Alga,Botryococcus braunii
Abstract
Botryococcus braunii strain Austin and strain Berkeley cultured under the same conditions contained 27.4 g and 34.0 g of lipids per 100 g of dry alga, respectively. The lipids in the former strain were 25.5% hydrocarbons, 58.8% other nonpolar lipids, and 15.7% polar lipids, and those in the latter strain were 71.6%, 9.2%, and 19.2%, respectively. Distinct differences were also observed in the components of the nonpolar and polar lipids, especially in the latter, between the strains. The fatty acid composition of the nonpolar lipid fraction in Austin strain was unique, oleic acid being 81% of the total acids.

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
