Abstract

Some general aspects of the AdS 2/CFT1 correspondence, previously discussed in hep-th/9812073, are summarized. The majority of this summary is devoted to the question of where the CFT1 should live. Almost as a byproduct, the decay—or fragmentation—of AdS 2 is also discussed.

  • The setup of these microstate models can be motivated from the fragmentation instability of the near-horizon geometry of the near-extremal black hole mediated by Brill instantons.

“The setup of these microstate models can be motivated from the fragmentation instability [263] of the near-horizon geometry of the near-extremal black hole mediated by the Brill instantons of semi-classical gravity.”

From Holographic spacetime, black holes and quantum error correcting codes: a review (2022) · cites this paper as [263]

Section 4, especially §4.4 (“The Brill instanton”), describes instanton-mediated fragmentation of an AdS₂ × S² near-horizon geometry. But its Brill-instanton calculation concerns the throat of an extremal charged black hole, not a demonstrated fragmentation instability of a near-extremal black hole. (LLM, conf=0.84)

  • Sending matter through the boundary causes the dilaton to diverge at the holographic boundary; this runaway backreaction was argued to ruin Maldacena's decoupling limit for AdS/CFT.

“Then sending in some matter through or suddenly causes at to diverge. This runaway backreaction at the holographic boundary was first noticed in Maldacena et al. (1999), where it was argued to ruin Maldacena’s decoupling limit (Maldacena 1999) for AdS/CFT.”

From Solvable models of quantum black holes: a review on Jackiw–Teitelboim gravity (2023) · cites this paper as Maldacena et al. (1999)

Section 2.2 (eq. 2.17; page unavailable) says nonzero matter stress makes e^−φ diverge near at least one AdS₂ boundary, so the geometry cannot remain asymptotically AdS₂ × S₂. But the paper does not say this ruins the decoupling limit for AdS/CFT generally: §2.3 describes a different limit in which matter backreaction is suppressed and AdS/CFT duality retains nontrivial content. (LLM, conf=0.86)

  • A general argument for the lack of a classical solution for the double trumpet can be found in Maldacena et al. (1999) and Qi et al. (2019).

“A general argument for this lack of classical solution can be found in Maldacena et al. (1999) and Qi et al. (2019).”

From Solvable models of quantum black holes: a review on Jackiw–Teitelboim gravity (2023) · cites this paper as Maldacena et al. 1999

Section 2 (equations 2.15–2.17; page unavailable) gives a classical constraint argument: nonzero T++ prevents a geometry from remaining asymptotically AdS2 × S2 at both boundaries. That supports the cited general obstruction, but the paper does not identify a double-trumpet solution or establish its absence without that condition. (LLM, conf=0.83)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
