Abstract

We report on angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopic studies on a parent topological insulator, ${\text{Bi}}_{2}{\text{Se}}_{3}$. The linewidth of the spectral function (inverse of the quasiparticle lifetime) of the topological metallic states shows an anomalous behavior. This behavior can be reasonably accounted for by assuming the decay of the quasiparticles predominantly into bulk electronic states through electron-electron interaction and defect scattering. Studies on aged surfaces reveal that topological metallic states are very much unaffected by the potentials created by adsorbed atoms or molecules on the surface, indicating that topological states could be indeed protected against weak perturbations.

Claims other papers make about this one

Each is checked against this paper’s own text: does it say what the citing paper says it does?

  • Detailed and systematic surface investigations of Bi2Se3, Bi2Te3, and Sb2Te3 confirmed the topological band-structure of all three of these materials.

“Subsequently, detailed and systematic surface investigations of Bi 2 Se 3 (23,29,30); Bi 2 Te 3 (31,23,32,33) and Sb 2 Te 3 (32) confirmed the topological band-structure of all 3 of these materials.”

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
