Shedding Light on Mechanisms of Myocarditis With COVID-19 mRNA Vaccines
Open accessAbstract
yocarditis is recognized as a rare complication of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccinations, especially in young adult men and adolescent boys.1,2 Incidence is approximatel 1 to 5 cases among 100 000 in the general population, and 1 in 20 000 among those16 to 30 years of age. 2 Cases most often occur days after the second vaccine dose and are usually mild and self-limited.

None of the participants reported any signs or symptoms of myocarditis that would warrant further investigation.
“None of the participants reported any signs or symptoms of myocarditis that would warrant further investigation, which is expected given the incidence of 1–5 cases per 100,000 in the general population12.”

The absence of myocarditis signs or symptoms is expected given the incidence of 1-5 cases per 100,000 in the general population.

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
