Nfix is a novel regulator of murine hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell survival
Open accessAbstract
Key Points: HSPCs fail to persist in the bone marrow of lethally irradiated recipients in the absence of Nfix. Nfix-deficient HSPCs display increased apoptosis during ex vivo culture and in recipient marrow.

Although their loci are not very near to each other, Nfia, Nfib and Nfix regulate cell-type differentiation in many tissues, function as homo- or heterodimers, and bind to largely common targets.
“Although their loci are not very near to each other, Nfia, Nfib and Nfix regulate cell-type differentiation in many tissues94–96, function as homo- or heterodimers, and bind to largely common targets97.”

The Introduction (page unavailable) reports roles for Nfix in muscle and neural development and for Nfia in a blood-cell lineage switch; it also describes a lung-development defect in Nfib-deficient mice. This supports a broad developmental role for the family, but does not establish that all three genes regulate cell-type differentiation across many tissues. The separate citation attached to dimerization and common targets is not attributed to this paper. (LLM, conf=0.83)

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
