Treatment patterns, glycemic control and bodyweight with canagliflozin 300 mg versus GLP1RAs in Type II diabetes patients
Open accessAbstract
Aim: Real-world effectiveness of canagliflozin 300 mg versus glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP1RAs) was examined in patients with Type II diabetes. Patients & methods: Patients were selected from the Optum integrated database of administrative claims and electronic health record data (1 January 2013 to 31 March 2015). Results: Patients were less likely to discontinue (p Conclusion: Patients were less likely to discontinue or switch with canagliflozin than GLP1RA, and were more likely to add-on. Canagliflozin patients were more likely to achieve HbA1c <8.0% and weight loss ≥5% than GLP1RA patients.

“For instance, Coleman et al. (2019) demonstrated that patients on canagliflozin achieved over 5% greater weight loss compared to those on GLP-1 receptor agonists, alongside significant reductions in HbA1c, with a higher likelihood of reaching HbA1c levels below 8.0% [15].”

“Coleman et al. [29] found that patients taking 300 mg canagliflozin lost more than 5% of their body weight compared with those taking glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, a result attributed to subsequent glucosuria, leading to decreased plasma glucose levels, reduced insulin release, and…”

About these checks
Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.
Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.
Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
