Abstract

LOBAL HEALTH IS “AN AREA FOR STUDY, RESEARCH and practice that places a priority on improving healthandachievingequityinhealthforallpeople worldwide.” 1 Global mental health is the application of these principles to the domain of mental ill health. The most striking inequity concerns the disparities in provision of care and respect for human rights of persons living with mental disorders between rich and poor countries. Low- and middle-income countries are home to more than 80% of the global population but command less than 20% of the share of the mental health resources. 2 The consequent “treatment gap” is a contravention of basic human rights—morethan75%ofthoseidentifiedwithseriousanxiety, mood, impulse control, or substance use disorders in the World Mental Health surveys in low- and middleincome countries received no care at all, despite substantialroledisability. 3 Insub-SaharanAfrica,thetreatmentgap forschizophreniaandotherpsychosescanexceed90%. 4 Even

The section “Global Mental Health: a new global health field comes of age” discusses psychological treatments and ways to expand care, but does not address Internet or mobile-device applications as a means of delivering them. Searches for Internet, mobile technology, and digital treatment found no passage supporting the predicted change over the next few decades. No page number is available in our copy. (LLM, conf=0.76)

About these checks

Registry, retraction, Cites and statistics results are computed, not judged, with one exception: a printed reference that no index lists is read once by a model before it counts as a citation error. Claims are extracted by a model and kept only when their quote appears verbatim in the text; each cited source is then checked, with a model’s help, for whether it says what the claim relies on. Those verdicts can be wrong — read the claim’s quote and the cited source before relying on one.

Statistics and arithmetic are recomputed, not judged.

Confidence bands are shown only for fields calibrated on our annotated test set. None is calibrated yet, so no band is shown.
